BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 8. Azerbaijan’s Economic Zones Development Agency (EZDA) and Türkiye’s Adana Hacı Sabancı Organized Industrial Zone have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in various areas.

The memorandum was signed during a visit by a delegation from the Adana Hacı Sabancı Organized Industrial Zone to the Sumgayit Industrial Park, managed by EZDA. The delegation visited Azerbaijan at the initiative of Azerbaijan’s Trade Representative in Türkiye.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the operations of industrial zones in Azerbaijan and Türkiye, expanding cooperation in industry, opportunities created for investors and new joint initiatives.
The memorandum was signed by EZDA Deputy Chairman of the Board Aqil Azizov and Adana Hacı Sabancı Organized Industrial Zone Chairman of the Board Bekir Sütçü.
Under the document, expanding business ties between industrial enterprises and investors will be one of the key areas of cooperation. The sides also plan to exchange experience in the application of green technologies in industrial zones, improving energy efficiency, digitalization, innovation and clustering.
The memorandum also envisages implementing joint initiatives, strengthening ties between industrial enterprises and expanding opportunities for sharing experience. The cooperation is expected to contribute to the development of ties between industrial zones in Azerbaijan and Türkiye and create new business opportunities for enterprises and investors.
As part of the visit, representatives of the Adana Hacı Sabancı Organized Industrial Zone also familiarized themselves with the operations of several enterprises at the Sumgayit Industrial Park. They were briefed on projects being implemented at the park, the operations of manufacturing enterprises and the infrastructure established at the industrial zone.
According to the Adana Hacı Sabancı Organized Industrial Zone, the industrial zone has been operating since 1973. It currently covers about 2,200 hectares and hosts more than 500 industrial enterprises operating in various sectors, employing more than 42,000 people.
Production at the industrial zone covers various sectors, including textiles, machinery, chemicals and food processing. According to information from the zone, modern infrastructure, energy-efficiency measures and environmental projects are among the key elements supporting the operations of industrial enterprises.
In addition to industrial enterprises, the Adana Hacı Sabancı Organized Industrial Zone hosts facilities focused on workforce training and social services. These include a vocational school of Çukurova University dedicated to the industrial zone, a technology college, a polyclinic and a kindergarten with capacity for 200 children.
According to the industrial zone, projects are also being implemented to train skilled workers in line with the needs of industrial enterprises, support employment, protect the environment and promote social responsibility.
The Sumgayit Industrial Park is also one of the key manufacturing hubs supporting the development of Azerbaijan’s industry. The park hosts projects across various industrial sectors and provides industrial infrastructure for local and foreign investors.
The cooperation envisaged under the memorandum signed between EZDA and the Adana Hacı Sabancı Organized Industrial Zone is expected to focus on expanding ties between industrial enterprises, introducing new technologies and developing the exchange of experience.
