The Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has ordered the government to adopt a state program to revive the village.

"If we want to promote agriculture and exports, we need to deal with the village," President Nazarbayev said at a meeting of the Entrepreneurs Council on Wednesday. At present, we are accumulating resources for this. I know there are 7,232 villages in Kazakhstan, of which 5,750 are strong, 2,500 - at the average level. They will rise if we help."

It is time to adopt a special program for reviving the village, he said.

"This is leisure for young people and new housing," he added. "We must think together with the Ministry of Agriculture and Sagintayev (Ministry of Regional Development) how to raise the villages which are on the average level. We must also deal with the villages without any prospects."
