President of Bulgaria Georgi Parvanov was awarded the International Prize Ilyas Efendiyev, established by the Ilyas Efendiyev Foundation.
The Head of the Bulgarian State was awarded the prize as a result of 2008 in the category "For work on the prosperity of world and democracy".
"President of the Ilyas Efendiyev Foundation Tural Efendiyev made a working visit to Sofia at the invitation of the President of Bulgaria. During the visit, a ceremony of awarding the International Prize Ilyas Efendiyev to the President Bulgaria took place", the Foundation said on August 1.
President Parvanov expressed his gratitude for the appreciation of his activities by Azerbaijan. He said that Bulgaria, as a member of the EU, considers cooperation with Azerbaijan in various spheres one of the priority issues.
As a result of 2008, the International Prize Ilyas Efendiyev was awarded to the Prime Minister of Turkey Rajap Tayyip Erdogan in the category "For the activity of foreign citizen on agitation and correct evaluation of the realities of Azerbaijan." Ilyas Efendiyev Foundation carries out the necessary work for the award ceremony.
