BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 17. Crude oil production at Iran’s Karoon Oil and Gas Production Company, operating under the National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC), has been stabilized, preventing a daily drop of 80,000 barrels, the company's executive director Hassan Shahrooei told reporters, Trend reports.
Shahrooei laid it on the line, saying that the water drainage from the reservoir at the No. 3 desalination complex was not hitting the nail on the head, thanks to a blockage in the production pipeline that was throwing a wrench in the works and causing a whole host of operational headaches.
After conducting technical investigations, Shahrooei added, a new outlet was created in the reservoir. The reservoir wall creation (known as hot tapping) was carried out for the first time within the NISOC’s territory. This allowed the standard flow of water and oil to continue, effectively preventing a halt in production.
Meanwhile, the Karoon Oil and Gas Production Company, operating as part of Iran's South Oil Zones National Company, has the potential to produce more than 1 million barrels of oil per day. The main oil fields of this company are Ahvaz, Mansouri, Ab Teymour, and Ramin.
To note, 27 percent of Iran's crude oil output is attributed to the Karoon Oil and Gas Company.
