BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 14. The long-term external debt of Azerbaijan's banking sector increased by 23.3 percent to $619 million last year, Trend reports via the report on the activities of the country's Cabinet of Ministers for 2024.
According to the report, by the end of the last year, foreign debt accounted for two percent of the total liabilities of banks. This indicator was also two percent at the end of the previous year.
By the end of the last year, the total assets of active banks amounted to 53 billion manat ($30.9 billion), total liabilities were 46.4 billion manat ($27.1 billion), and equity capital was 6.6 billion manat ($3.9 billion). In 2024, the total assets, total liabilities, and equity capital of banks increased by 7.8 percent, 7.6 percent, and 9.2 percent, respectively.
