BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 12. Azerbaijan exported $9.7 million worth of tobacco and industrial substitutes for tobacco in the first quarter of 2025.
Data obtained by Trend from the State Customs Committee indicates that this figure is $1.8 million, or 15.5 percent, less compared to the same period in 2024 ($11.5 million).
Moreover, Azerbaijan imported $26.6 million worth of tobacco and its industrial substitutes during the reporting period. This is $230,000, or 0.9 percent, more than the $26.4 million recorded in the first quarter of last year.
The data indicates that in the mentioned period, tobacco imports exceeded exports by around 2.7 times.
Azerbaijan's tobacco and substitutes imports made up 0.47 percent of total imports, while tobacco exports accounted for 0.15 percent of total exports in the first quarter of this year.
