BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 25. The Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) significantly increased its assets in East Asia by more than twofold by the end of 2024, reaching 3.1 billion manat ($1.8 billion).
Data obtained by Trend from the CBA indicates that this marks a sharp rise of 1.71 billion manat ($1 billion), or 2.2 times, compared to the previous year (1.4 billion manat ($823.5 million)).
The CBA reported that during the reporting period, the bulk of these assets—more than 3.1 billion manat ($1.8 billion)—were held in debt securities, while cash and cash equivalents accounted for a marginal share of 2 million manat ($1.1 million).
