TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, September 8. As of September 1, Uzbekistan’s official foreign exchange reserves reached $50.09 billion, reflecting an increase of $1.3 billion compared to August.
The data obtained by Trend from the country's Central Bank indicates that this growth was primarily driven by a rise in the market value of gold assets held in the reserves, which reached an all-time high of $40.06 billion. The physical stock of gold remains stable at 11.8 million troy ounces, with the increase attributed to favorable fluctuations in international gold prices.
Conversely, foreign currency reserves saw a decline, totaling $8.43 billion. Of this amount, $908.9 million is held within the financial systems of foreign central banks and the International Monetary Fund, while $7.52 billion is strategically invested in the portfolios of foreign commercial banks.
Additionally, the Central Bank significantly expanded its investment in securities, bringing the total portfolio value to $1.016 billion.
