BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 11. Global oil demand is projected to increase by 1.38 million barrels per day (mb/d) in 2026, reaching 106.52 mb/d, according to OPEC’s latest outlook, Trend reports.
This forecast remains unchanged from the previous assessment.
Among OECD countries, demand is expected to grow modestly by 0.14 mb/d to 45.97 mb/d, with the Americas leading regional growth at 25.31 mb/d. Europe is forecast to see a slight increase to 13.48 mb/d, while the Asia-Pacific region is expected to experience a minor decline to 7.12 mb/d.
Non-OECD demand is set to rise by 1.23 mb/d, reaching 60.54 mb/d. Growth will be led by Other Asia at 10.16 mb/d, followed by India at 5.93 mb/d and China at 17.05 mb/d. Other regions contributing to the increase include Latin America, the Middle East, Africa, and Russia.
Overall, the continued expansion in emerging economies, combined with steady OECD consumption, is expected to support healthy global oil demand growth in 2026.
