ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 25. Kazakhstan has begun construction of a $320 million agro-industrial complex to enhance deep processing of grains and legumes, boosting food security, export potential, and job creation, Trend reports via Kazakh Invest.
The event was attended by Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov, Akim (Mayor) of Astana Zhenis Kassymbek, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alibek Kuantyrov, and other officials.
The project is being developed by Kazak Protein LLP, a subsidiary of Tiryaki Agro Holding (Türkiye), in partnership with ADOtex LLP (Kazakhstan). The total investment is estimated at $320 million, with implementation planned between 2025 and 2029.
The industrial zone of Astana will host two complexes: one for deep processing of wheat, and the other for processing peas. The planned annual processing capacity is 250,000 tons of wheat and 80,000 tons of peas. Final products will include gluten, starch, lysine, glucose-fructose syrup, animal feed, as well as pea protein isolate and other high value-added products.
These products will be supplied to both the domestic market and exported to North America, the European Union, CIS countries, and Southeast Asia. The project is expected to create approximately 400 new jobs.
The ceremony marked the project’s transition to the practical implementation phase. Kuantyrov emphasized that the project is among the country’s priorities and holds strategic importance for national food security and the development of Kazakhstan’s agro-industrial export potential.
“The launch of construction for the Kazak Protein agro-industrial complex is a significant step for the entire industry. A modern production facility will be established in Kazakhstan, focused on manufacturing high value-added products that are in demand both domestically and internationally. The project will not only diversify the country’s exports and elevate local grain and legume processing to a new level, but also provide an additional sales market for Kazakhstani farmers, ensuring stable demand for their products,” he said.
The event concluded with the note that the successful realization of the project will mark a new stage in the development of Kazakhstan’s agro-industrial sector, opening additional opportunities for international cooperation in food security.
Tiryaki Agro is a Turkish company founded in 1965 and is one of the largest agricultural exporters, supplying products to 55 countries with an annual turnover exceeding $2 billion.
