Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani parliament) Committee on economic policy has recommended second reading of the draft law project on 'Provision of unite measures' to discussion of plenary meeting of parliament.
According to head of State Metrology Service under Azerbaijani State Committee of standardization, metrology and patents Ogtay Abbasov, who gave a speech during the committee meeting on Tuesday, the draft law was developed with consideration of international rules and standards.
"The legislature in this field doesn't currently reflect international requirements. Controversies with international law create some problems for development of economic relations with other countries, particularly in trade. The documents of international organizations have been used and recommendations of European experts have been considered during development of this draft law," Abbasov noted.
In his words, the new law will specify fields of government regulation in metrology as well as fields with no need in government regulation.
The draft law creates favorable conditions for work of private sector in this field, simplifies their controlling process," Abbasov added.
According to the deputy Ali Masimli, adoption of such law is important in terms of Azerbaijan joining World Trade Organization (WTO).
"We have to advance legislature within this process in all fields, including metrology field," Masimli stated.
The acting law in this field was adopted in 2000 , it is regulating relations in development field, production, testing, exploitation, repair, selling, import and export of measuring devices. The unity of measures is such a state of measuring when the results are given in approved units of measurement and measurement errors are within the established boundaries.
