Kazakhmys Kazakh mining and metals group appointed Chinese NFC (Non Ferrous China) as a contractor for the construction of the concentration plant on the processing of sulphide ore on Aktogai copper deposit in the East Kazakhstan region, Kazakhmys reported Sept.24.
"NFC has extensive experience in implementing large-scale construction projects, including Kazakhstan. We are happy to expand our cooperation, which will enable us to start the first production of copper from sulphide ore in time at Aktogay in 2017," General Manager Director of the Kazakhmys group Oleg Novachuk.
It also reported that construction of the plant is one of the largest items in the structure of the fund expenses on the Aktogai project with a total amount of $2.3 billion.
NFC is the only foreign contractor organization involved in the construction of Aktogai mining and processing plant. The main volume of construction work, including the construction of the complex of oxide ores processing, construction of power transmission lines, laying and maintenance of railways, earthworks, concrete work and other work is carried out by Kazakh companies. The total number of employees of Kazakh companies working on the project is more than 1,000 people, including the residents of nearby settlements
