Iran's exports have not developed at all over the past 30 years, given the country’s potential in energy and other fields, the Chairman of Iran's Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA) Gholamhossein Shafei said, Trend reports citing the ILNA.
The chairman noted that research of the ICCIMA shows that 50 percent of Iran's exports accounts for oil and related products, while the remaining 50 percent - for non-oil products.
"Most of the mentioned is exported in raw form," he said.
Although in 30 years Iran has been implementing certain plans to boost its exports, nothing really worked to reach a significant increase in exports," he noted.
He went on to add that if to compare data of Iran's exports within the 1990-2020 period to the same period with regards to some other countries, it is clear that Iran has been dragging behind.
"During the mentioned time frame, Turkey's exports increased 7 times, Malaysia's exports 5 times, and even Nigeria's exports 2 times, for example," he explained.
The official noted that in total, the value of Iran's exports in 2019 amounted to $58.4 billion, while in 2020 to $58.9 billion.
