Turkmenistan plans to complete laying the East-West gas pipeline, designed to combine the largest gas fields in the country in December 2015, the Turkmen government said.
This question has been recently raised at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan.
Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said that this pipeline will be an important link on the international energy market.
The president gave specific instructions regarding the completion of the construction of the East-West gas pipeline as scheduled.
"Depending on the needs, it will be possible to increase the fuel supply abroad via the existing gas pipelines to China, Iran, Russia and via the planned routes - Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India, Trans-Caspian and other directions," the statement said.
Altyn Asyr TV channel reported that the total length of the pipeline, which is being built by one of the subdivisions of Turkmengas state concern, is 773 km. The welding work has been held at a 574-kilometer section of the pipeline.
The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources of Turkmenistan said that the capacity of this gas pipeline is 30 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
It is possible to supply 14 billion cubic meters of gas from the Galkynysh field to the final point of the pipeline - Belek gas compressor station by a direct flow, that is, without using a compressor station.
After the Shatlyk-1 gas compressor station is constructed, around 15 billion cubic meters of gas will be able annually supplied to the Belek gas compressor station. It is also planned to gradually build 7-8 compressor stations.
Turkmenistan with its natural gas reserves ranks fourth in the world. Currently, it exports this type of fuel to China, CIS and Iran.
