Implementation of the third phase of the Galkynysh field development is planned to start in the near future, a source in the Turkmen fuel and energy complex told Trend.
Production capacity is expected to be 33 billion cubic meters of commercial gas per year, which will ensure export supplies of fuel via the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India (TAPI) gas pipeline, said the source.
According to an audit held by the UK’s Gaffney, Cline & Associates, reserves of the Turkmen Galkynysh field, together with reserves of the Yashlar and Garakel fields, exceed 27 trillion cubic meters.
The total length of the TAPI pipeline will be 1,814 kilometers. A 214-kilometer section of the pipeline will run through Turkmenistan, a 774-kilometer section will run through Afghanistan and an 826-kilometer section will run through Pakistan.
Construction of the Turkmen section of TAPI started in 2015 and is scheduled to finish in late 2018.
