Uzbek Central Bank announced the release of new banknotes in denomination of 100,000 soums from February 25, where a relief element was first-time used for the blind people, Trend reports via Uzbek media.
An element, located on the banknote, is intended for blind people and allows to determine the denomination of the banknote due to special relief.
The new 100,000 note is dedicated to the scientist Mirzo Ulugbek. It depicts a scientist and his observatory, astronomical instruments and solar system.
The bill is made on special protected paper. On the right edge, in the zone of white oval field, there is a local watermark in the form of Mirzo Ulugbek’s portrait and filigree watermark in the form of the number 100,000.
The text “O‘ZBEKISTON RESPUBLIKASI MARKAZIY BANKI” is printed on the right side of the banknote. In the upper right corner there is a brown coat of arms.
Banknotes in denominations of 100,000 soums are required to be received at face value into all types of payments by all economic entities and the public without any restrictions alongside with banknotes and coins in circulation.
Mirzo Ulugbek was a Central Asian statesman, ruler of the Turkic state Timurids, son of Shahrukh and grandson of Tamerlan. He was known as an outstanding mathematician, astronomer, educator and poet of his time, he was also interested in history and poetry. He founded one of the most important observatories of middle Ages.
