Work has been concluded on connecting AzEduNet educational network to AzScienceNet scientific computer network of the Institute of Information Technologies (IIT) of the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) , the IIT told Trend on May 17.
The integration allows specialists of the Education Ministry to get access to AzScienceNet services, as well as to exchange information with higher educational institutions and other educational institutions of the country.
"The data transfer speed is 1 gigabits a second. The project presentation will take place in the near future with participation of representatives of the Education Ministry and ANAS," the IIT said.
In addition to the AzEduNet educational network, about 40 structures of the ANAS also have access to AzScienceNet.
The integration of AzEduNet educational network with AzScienceNet, opens access to higher educational institutions of the country, as well as to specialists, doctoral candidates and dissertator of other educational institutions to services provided by the IIT on the basis of a scientific computer network (Wi-Fi, Eduroam educational roaming, cloud services and hosting services).
AzEduNet has the largest corporate network in Azerbaijan and about half of secondary schools in Azerbaijan get access to the Internet through AzEduNet educational network.
