ASTANA, Kazakhstan, October 22. A total of 190 industrial projects worth over 1.5 trillion tenge ($2.7 billion) are set to be launched in Kazakhstan this year, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov said during a plenary session of the Mazhilis (the lower house of the Parliament of Kazakhstan), Trend reports.
“In total, 1,681 major projects are currently being implemented across all sectors. These initiatives are expected to create around 40,000 permanent jobs,” said Bektenov.
The prime minister noted that Kazakhstan’s economy has demonstrated steady growth in recent years, 5.1 percent in 2023 and 5 percent in 2024, with strong momentum continuing into the current year.
He also stressed the importance of curbing inflation.
“As of the end of September, inflation stood at 12.9 percent. We believe this is a very high rate and must be brought down. In cooperation with the National Bank, we are developing a targeted action plan. Once finalized, it will be made publicly available. Taking all these factors into account, we believe that the planned growth indicators remain in optimal balance,” Bektenov stated.
