Kyrgyzstan's imports of motorcycles from China skyrocket

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, January 9. Kyrgyzstan imported 79,047 motorcycles from China from January through October 2023, which is a substantial increase of 15 times compared to the same period in 2022 (5,115 motorcycles), Trend reports.

Data sourced from Kyrgyzstan’s State Statistical Committee indicates that the import's total value reached $4.165 million, a surge of 4.9 times year-on-year ($836,400 from January through October 2022).

Among the countries from which Kyrgyzstan bough motorcycles in the span of 10 months in 2023, China held the top position, accounting for 98 percent of Kyrgyzstan's motorcycles import.

In addition to China, Uzbekistan stood out as one of the primary motorcycle exporters to Kyrgyzstan, with 298 motorcycles imported, valued at $136,900. Pakistan followed with 276 motorcycles imported, totaling $77,500, and Japan with 258 motorcycles amounting to $221,200.

Overall, Kyrgyzstan imported 80,534 motorcycles from January through October 2023, which was 14 times higher than the 5,719 motorcycles imported in the same period of 2022. The value of these imports totaled $6.662 million, marking a 5.4-times increase compared to the same period in 2022 ($1.222 million).

Kyrgyzstan’s trade with China amounted $4.309 billion from January through October 2023, accounting for 35 percent of Kyrgyzstan’s total trade. China was the largest trade partner of Kyrgyzstan. The trade increased by 26 percent compared to the ten months of 2022 ($3.413 billion).

Kyrgyzstan’s exports to China during this period reached $61.716 million, which is an increase of 26.7 percent compared to the corresponding months of 2022 ($48.722 million). The country’s imports from China totaled $4.247 billion, which is 26.2 percent more than the imports from January through October 2022 ($3.365 billion).
