BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 1. A total of 640 million tons of cargo were handled and unloaded at Iranian-owned ports from July 7, 2021, through June 20, 2024, the report of Iran's Ministry of Roads and Urban Development said, Trend reports.
According to the report, about 130 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at Iranian-owned ports from July 7, 2021, through March 20, 2022.
The report indicates that 215 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at Iran-owned ports from March 21, 2022, through March 20, 2023, 237 million tons from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024, and 57.9 million tons from March 20. through June 20, 2024.
The current Iranian government's tenure is coming to an end. The country is now in the midst of re-elections and the transition to a new administration, following President Ebrahim Raisi's (who assumed office in August 2021) tragic death in an airplane crash. In light of this, a number of Iranian groups are releasing papers detailing the accomplishments of the present Iranian administration.
To note, the current throughput capacity of Iranian ports is more than 285 million tons. Iran is pulling out all the stops to ramp up the capacity of ports by a whopping 500 million tons.
