Iran's Hormozgan Province sees surge in product handling volumes at its western ports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 4. The volume of loaded and unloaded products at ports located in the west of Hormozgan province in southern Iran has increased by 11 percent during the first five months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through August 21, 2024) compared to the same period of last year (from March 21 through August 22, 2023), the Director of Hormozgan Province Ports and Maritime Department Morteza Salari told reporters, Trend reports.

According to Salari, a total of 74,233 TEU containers have been loaded and unloaded in the western ports of Hormozgan province for five months. The weight of TEU containers in the mentioned volume amounted to 768,819 tons.

Salari added that a sum of 37,116 TEU containers of products were exported via the western ports of Hormozgan province over five months. The weight of the products amounted to 384,409 tons. This is five percent more than in the same period last year.

To note, a total of ten ports are operating in the west of Iran's Hormozgan province. Among these ports, Lengeh, Charak, Siri, and Lavan ports are the most active.
