The drilling work carried out by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) reached 9,810 meters in Jan. 2016 versus 7,170 meters drilled in Jan. 2015, SOCAR said.
The total volume of drilling work carried out by SOCAR during the reporting period accounted for exploration drilling.
SOCAR commissioned 1 new well in Jan. 2016.
The drilling work carried out by SOCAR reached 105,410 meters in 2015 or 17.2 percent less than in 2014.
Over 104,400 meters of the total volume of drilling work carried out by SOCAR in 2015 accounted for development drilling, while the remaining part - exploration drilling.
SOCAR commissioned 73 new wells in 2015.
SOCAR includes Azneft (companies producing oil and gas offshore and onshore), Azerkimya (chemical industry) and Azerigas production associations.
Jointly with foreign partners, SOCAR participates in such large projects as the development of Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli oil and gas fields' block and Shah Deniz gas and condensate field in the Caspian Sea.
