ASTANA, Kazakhstan, December 25. According to the network of the Kazakhtsan’s Karaganda branch of freight transportation, the volume of ferrous metals loaded in the first 11 months of 2024 reached 2.9 million tons, which is 39 percent higher compared to the same period last year, Trend reports.

According to Kazakhstan Railways, the export of ferrous metals to Central Asia and China grew by 9 percent.

"The volume of coal transportation, which constitutes a significant portion of the Karaganda region's freight flow, exceeded 15 million tons this year, which is 2 million tons more than in 2023. The transportation of special coke, manganese, and other minerals has also increased. According to forecasts, the growth in transportation volumes will continue in 2025, which will require additional efforts to modernize infrastructure and improve logistics processes," the company reported.

Notably, to ensure further growth in transportation volumes, including ferrous metals and coal, the Kyzyljar station has undergone reconstruction with infrastructure expansion. Additional tracks have been constructed, including four receiving and dispatching tracks and one pull-out track.
