ASTANA, Kazakhstan, February 6. This year, construction of a main water pipeline will begin in Balkhash to supply water to the resort villages of Torangalyk and Shubartubek, and pumping stations in the village of Sayak will be renovated, said the Akim (head) of the Karaganda region, Yermaganbet Bulekpayev, during a working visit to Balkhash, where he held a meeting on the development of the city, Trend reports via the Akimat of Karaganda region.

“Last year was a period of stable growth for Balkhash. The city maintained a positive trend in key socio-economic indicators. Industrial production volume increased by 4.8 percent. A total of 58.6 billion tenge was invested in the city's economy,” said Bulekpayev.

Balkhash’s mayor, Sapar Satayev, informed that financing for the construction of the main water pipeline Balkhash–Torangalyk has been allocated from the national budget. The contractor has been selected following a tender. The city replaced 44 kilometers of water supply networks, and this year, another 21 kilometers will be replaced.

Sataev also stated that half of the water supply networks in the village of Sayak have been replaced to improve water supply. The repair of the Tokrau–Sayak water pipeline will continue. In addition, work will begin to address the long-standing issue with the worn-out pumping stations that supply drinking water to Sayak.

Additionally, the equipment has not been repaired since the 1960s. Last year, modernization of the station began, with the full replacement of equipment, installation of protection systems, and two generators for the autonomous operation of the station and underground wells.
