ASTANA, Kazakhstan, June 2. Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Olzhas Bektenov held a meeting with King Ife of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, who arrived in Kazakhstan to participate in the Astana International Forum, Trend reports.
In the course of the meeting, the sides discussed the implementation of agreements reached between the presidents of Kazakhstan and Nigeria during the international summit "Abu Dhabi Sustainable Development Week" on January 14 of this year.
In the agricultural sector, the parties considered the prospects of supplying Kazakh wheat to Nigeria. Meanwhile, in the field of transportation and logistics, the Middle Corridor opens up opportunities for Kazakhstan to export goods to the markets of North and West Africa.
Moreover, attention was given to trade-economic and investment cooperation, collaboration in the fields of agro-industrial complex (AIC), transport and logistics, energy, geological exploration, digital technologies, and others.
Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their intention to promote the expansion of mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and Nigeria.
Last year, the total trade turnover between Kazakhstan and African countries grew by 15.4 percent, reaching $789.2 million.
