BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 25. Global LNG exports rose 4.2% year-on-year in September 2025 to 34.91 million tonnes (Mt), marking the slowest growth pace since June 2025, the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) says, Trend reports.
According to the report, the increase was largely driven by non-GECF countries and LNG re-exports, which helped offset weaker shipments from GECF member states.
From January through September 2025, cumulative global LNG exports grew 4.7% y-o-y to 319.46 Mt, supported by stronger exports from non-GECF countries and a modest rise in exports from GECF members and re-export activity.
The share of LNG exports from non-GECF countries increased from 50.6% in September 2024 to 55.4% in September 2025, while LNG re-exports edged up slightly from 0.5% to 0.6%. In contrast, the share of GECF member countries declined from 48.9% to 44.0% over the same period.
The U.S., Qatar, and Australia remained the top three LNG exporters, continuing to play a leading role in global liquefied natural gas supply.
