Iran's largest port will be built in the Kuh-Mobarak city in the Jask County of Hormozgan Province (southern Iran), Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran and Chairman of the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO), Mohammad Rastad said, Trend reports citing the organization’s portal.
The deputy minister emphasized that the port will be built in three stages and will have a capacity of 100-200 million tons.
Rastad added that thus, another large commercial port will be created in Iran so that ships sailing in the oceans can dock.
"The construction of the port will begin in the next four years. The port is estimated to be put into operation after 2032," he said.
The chairman noted that container transportation has the largest share in the world's maritime trade. Considering this, with the construction of this port will engage Iran in the trade route from east to west beyond the Strait of Hormuz.
The Kuh-Mobarak city in Iran is located on the shores of the Gulf of Oman.
