Solar power systems will be installed in 87 Georgian villages that are not hooked up to the national electricity grid in mountainous regions of Georgia, Trend reports via the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia.
The government of Georgia will provide 178 permanent resident families of Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Shida Kartli, Samtskhe-Javakheti, Racha-Lechkhum –Kvemo Svaneti, Kakheti and Imereti with solar panels.
Each solar panel will have a 1,500W capacity that is sufficient for a household to use several appliances at the same time.
The USAID/Energy Program will provide the Regional Development and Infrastructure Ministry of Georgia with technical support.
UGT, a leading service and hardware provider on the Georgian IT market, will ensure the supply and installation work and guarantee servicing of the panels. Warranty on batteries is 25 years.
The installation process will be launched in September and continue until the end of January 2020. Within the project there is a hiring of the manager of the program which on the place will provide supervision of installation of panels, informing families on technical capability of panels.
