Kazakhstan has manufactured 931,400 tons of meat in 2020, which is 3.7 percent more than in 2019, Trend reports citing Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Agriculture.
The ministry said that the volume included 521,300 tons of beef, 172,300 tons of lamb, and 143,000 tons of horse meat.
The ministry added that the meat production volume has equaled the construction volume in the country by the end of 2020.
Thus, at present, due to domestic production, 97 percent of beef, 100 percent of lamb, and 98 percent of horse meat sold at the domestic market are of Kazakh manufacturing.
The reserves of beef in the country now amount to 16,500 tons, mutton – 7,800 tons, horse meat – 7,300 tons. At the same time, warehouses are regularly replenished, so a shortage of meat is not forecasted any time soon.
There is also sufficient livestock reserves in Kazakhstan. Moreover, the number of animals shows steady growth every year. This was facilitated by the increase in state support measures for livestock breeders, as well as a moratorium on the export of livestock, introduced by the Ministry last year.
The number of horses increased by 9.3 percent (up to 3.1 million animals), cattle by 5.5 percent (up to 7.8 million animals), camels by 5 percent (up to 227,200), pigs by 0.8 percent (up to 819,900), sheep by 4.9 percent (up to 17.7 million), goats by 2.8 percent (up to 2.3 million).
