It is planned to commission two big gas chemical complexes (in the Kiyanli settlement of the Balkan region and in Ovadandepe village of the Ahal region) in Turkmenistan in 2018, Nebit-Gaz, online newspaper of the country’s Oil and Gas Complex, reported Feb. 6.
A report on the progress of construction of these complexes was made during a meeting of the Turkmen oil and gas departments under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister Maksat Babayev.
In this regard, Babayev noted the special importance of providing new gas chemical complexes with highly qualified specialists, said the report.
The gas chemical complex in the Kiyanli settlement is designed to produce 386,000 tons of polyethylene and 81,000 tons of polypropylene per year. The project is being implemented by South Korea’s LG and Hyundai together with Japan’s Toyo Engineering Corporation. Total cost of the project is $3.4 billion.
Meanwhile, a plant for the production of A-92 (RON 92) gasoline from natural gas is being built in Ovadandepe village. The project is being implemented by a consortium of companies Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. (Japan) and Ronesans Endustri Tesisleri Insaat Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S. (Turkey).
The plant is designed to annually produce up to 600,000 tons of RON 92 gasoline. Total cost of the project is almost $1.7 billion.
