Iran’s National Petrochemical Company (NPC) has developed seven new propane dehydrogenation (PDH) projects because Iran has enough propane, Projects Manager of the company Ali Mohammad Bosaghzadeh said, Trend reports with reference to Fars News Agency.
Considering that propane is produced at Bandar Imam Khomeini Petrochemical Complex, Bid-Boland Gas Treating Plant and as part of the NGL (natural gas liquids) 3200 project, three PDH projects are envisaged to be implemented at the Mahshahr port, he noted.
In his words, these projects are Salman Farsi, Kurosh and Sahand, he said, adding that there is a 25% progress in Salman Farsi PDH project.
“We also plan to implement four or five PDH projects in Asaluyeh county,” he noted. “The fuel of these units will be ensured by propane produced by the South Pars Gas Complex.”
Previously, LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) products containing propane and butane were produced, he said. However, the National Petrochemical Company is trying to provide the propane that PDH units need, he noted.
The company expects that LPG units will need more butane than propane, he said.
