Uzbekistan Airways' cargo traffic 15 times against the backdrop of COVID-19 pandemic, Trend reports citing Uzbekistan National News Agency.
Earlier, Uzbekistan Airways decided to convert passenger aircraft Boeing-767-300-ER, which are in temporary storage, into cargo version Boeing-767-300-PTC (passenger-to-cargo). The decision was made in connection with the rapidly growing demand for cargo transportation, as well as with the complete cessation of passenger flights.
Four passenger aircraft Boeing-767 were adapted for cargo transportation in order to increase the export of services and income of the airline. As a result, it is possible to carry more than 60 tons of cargo per year and receive $120 million in additional revenue, the report said.
In the period from January through April 2020, the volume of cargo transportation by Uzbekistan Airways reached 4,650 tons, which is 15 times more than during the same period last year. The number of flights amounted to 142 indicating 24-time increase compared to a year ago.
In order to facilitate the export of cargo transportation by air, Uzbekistan Airways carries out regular cargo transportation along the routes of Tashkent - Navoi - Dubai, Tashkent - Namangan - Moscow, Tashkent - Seoul, Tashkent - Shanghai, Tashkent - Beijing and Tashkent - London.
In addition, on the basis of orders received, it is possible to carry out charter cargo flights on the routes Tashkent - Moscow, Tashkent - Shanghai, Tashkent - Dubai, Namangan - London, Namangan - Seoul, Navoi - Moscow, Tashkent - Novosibirsk, and Tashkent - Tianjin.
From May 13 through May 25, 83.3 tons of fruit and textile products were exported by air to Moscow, Shanghai, Dubai, Seoul and Bangkok.
