In total, 83 ships are to be built by local manufacturers in the northern and southern ports of Iran in connection with the ship supplying for the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO), Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development and Chairman of the PMO, Mohammad Rastad said, Trend reports citing the organization’s portal.
Rastad noted that at present, 16 of these ships are under building, and a contract has been signed for the building of 10 pilot boats.
The deputy minister added that a contract will be signed for the building of 34 more ships by the end of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021). And a contract will be signed for the building of 23 ships by the end of the current government (August 2021).
The chairman emphasized that a total of 60 trillion rials (about $1.43 billion) has been allocated from the reserves of the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization for the building of ships.
Yesterday on January 23, two contracts were signed for the building of 10 pilot boats in the northern and southern ports of Iran. The total value of the contracts is 3.9 trillion rials (about $93 million).
According to the first contract, Iran Marine Industrial Company (SADRA) will build five pilot boats for ships that are carrying steel products in Iran's northern ports. The value of the contract is about 1.41 trillion rials (about $33.5 million).
Under the second contract, Iran's Aram Shenavar Kian Qeshm Company will build five 10 pilot boats for ships that are carrying aluminum products in Iran's southern ports. The value of this contract is 2.52 trillion rials (about $60 million).
