Fields for growing reproductive rice seeds will be set up on 17,452 hectares in 22 districts of Uzbekistan, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan.
According to the information, elite seed farms will be formed on the basis of rice clusters or rice farms in areas where rice cultivation is allowed.
Thus, starting from June 1, the issuance of a certificate of conformity for seed rice will be permitted by legal entities that have passed accreditation in the prescribed manner. In addition, a system of crop rotation in seed farms will be established. At the same time, a scientifically grounded crop rotation system will be introduced to prevent rice cultivation for more than two years in the same field.
Along with this, up to 20 percent of the cost of modern seed drills and equipment for seedling sowing purchased by agricultural producers for growing rice is reimbursed from the state budget by the end of the year.
According to the presidential decree, forecast indicators of rice cultivation for the harvest of 2021 in Karakalpakstan Republic and regions have been approved. Thus, this year Uzbekistan provides for the cultivation of rice on 129,357 hectares.
In addition, measures will be taken to create at the Tashkent State Agrarian University of Nukus a branch - in Karakalpakstan Republic, a joint faculty in the direction of rice growing in conjunction with the Vietnam Agrarian University.
