TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, March 28. Uzbekistan has emerged as the leader in foreign tourist growth in Central Asia, with the number of international visitors rising significantly in 2024.
As per data obtained by Trend from Uzbekistan's National Statistics Committee, the country attracted 8.2 million foreign tourists in 2024, marking a substantial increase of 1.8 million compared to 6.6 million in 2023.
The majority of tourists came from neighboring countries, with citizens from Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Russia making up the largest groups of visitors to Uzbekistan.
In 2024, the total number of foreign visitors to Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan reached 28.6 million, showing an 11 percent growth compared to 2023. Data for Turkmenistan is not available.
According to Kazakhstan's Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the country saw the highest increase in foreign tourism, with 15.3 million international visitors in 2024. This represents a 13 percent increase year-on-year, or an additional 1.2 million visitors.
The data from the Tourism Development Support Fund of Kyrgyzstan shows that Kyrgyzstan ranked second in foreign tourist numbers, with 8.6 million visitors in 2024.
At the same time, Tajikistan recorded 1.6 million international tourists in 2024, marking a 16.7 percent increase compared to the previous year.
