BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 15. Iran's oil recovery potential at the South Azadegan oil field (Majnoon in Iraq) jointly with Iraq grew by 2,500 barrels per day, Trend reports via the Iranian Ministry of Oil.

According to the ministry, the relevant restoration and production work was carried out at the field in Iran at wells No. 351 and 352.

The ministry noted that the recovery potential grew following the placement of the Pad reservoir in the wells.

The reservoir's operation start boosted the recovery potential in the field's central part to 25,900 b/d, added the ministry.

Previously, crude oil production from the South Azadegan field was 170,000 b/d.

The South Azadegan field contains 28.2 billion barrels of oil, with recoverable reserves estimated at 1.6 billion barrels. According to the development plans for the field, the first phase aims to achieve a daily production of 320,000 barrels of crude oil and 197 million cubic feet (about seven million cubic meters) of natural gas, while the second phase targets a daily production of 280,000 barrels of crude oil.
