BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 8. The volume of cargo unloaded at Jask Port of Hormozgan Province in southern Iran during the first six months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through September 21, 2024) has increased by 13 percent compared to the same period of last year (from March 21 through September 22, 2023), the director of the eastern ports of Hormozgan province Hamid Reza Mohammad Hosseini told reporters, Trend reports.
According to him, more than 227,000 tons of non-oil products have been loaded and unloaded at Jask port during the six months.
Mohammad Hosseini stated that about 53,400 tons of non-oil products have been unloaded and 174,000 tons of non-oil products have been loaded.
The official noted that 21,100 TEU containers were loaded and unloaded at Jask port during the six months. Loaded and unloaded TEU containers increased by 10 percent compared to the same period last year.
He added that several steps have been taken in recent years to develop the port of Jask. Accordingly, loading and unloading operations in this port have increased in recent months.
To note, the Jask port is located 320 kilometers east of Hormozgan province, and the distance from this port to Muscat, the capital of Oman, is 130 miles.
