Iran unveils import, export volume of car and motorcycle spares

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 8. Import and export of spare parts for cars and motorcycles in Iran amounted to about 340,000 tons worth $3.13 billion during the six months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through September 21, 2024).

The data obtained by Trend from the country's customs administration shows that Iran imported 329,000 tons of spare parts for cars and motorcycles worth $3.1 billion during the six months. This compared to the same period last year (from March 21 through September 22, 2023) decreased by 20 percent in value and 17.6 percent in weight. Iran imported 292,000 tons of car parts worth $2.9 billion and 37,000 tons of motorcycle parts worth $264 million during the six months. Car and motorcycle parts are mainly imported from China, UAE, and Türkiye.

Iran exported 10,900 tons of spare parts for cars and motorcycles worth $31.6 million over the six months. Compared to the same period last year, exports increased by 8 percent in value and decreased by 13 percent in weight terms.

However, a total of 9,240,000 tons of auto parts worth $26.8 million and motorcycle parts worth $4.8 million were exported during the six months. Car and motorcycle parts are mainly exported to Iraq, Russia, and the UAE.

According to the Iranian Customs Administration, Iran exported 70 million tons of non-oil products worth $25.8 billion for six months. Exports of products increased by 6.5 percent in value and 3.5 percent in weight compared to the same period last year.

To note, Iran imported non-oil products worth $32.6 billion during the mentioned period.
