Iran reveals its Bileh Savar border terminal truck permit costs

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 7. A total of $6.64 million worth of road use tax permits have been issued to trucks passing through the Bileh Savar border terminal in Ardabil province, located in northwestern Iran, from 2024 to date, the Director General of the Road and Transportation Department of Iran's Ardabil Province Kalimollah Vosughi said told reporters, Trend reports.

According to him, 33,200 road use permits have been issued at the Bileh Savar border checkpoint. The cost of each permit amounts to $200.

Vosughi mentioned that the road use tax permits are handed out in line with the deal struck between Iran and Azerbaijan to lighten the load of road use tax.

The official reported that the Bileh Savar border terminal issues an average of 2,770 permits each month. About 210 trucks pass through the Bileh Savar border terminal daily.

He added that last year (2023), the share of road use permits in Ardabil province stood at 91,500. This year, the share of road use permits has increased by 5 percent compared to last year, with the aim of reducing transportation costs and boosting product exports.

To note, certain nations mandate that vehicles possess a road utilization tax authorization.

The Bileh Savar Border Terminal sits right on the Azerbaijani and Iranian borders.
