BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 5. Iran is negotiating with Azerbaijan to import 140 megawatts of electricity by the summer of 2025, Mehrdad Eqlimi, the director general of the foreign trade office of Iran's Power Generation and Distribution Company (TAVANIR), told local media, Trend reports.

Eqlimi pointed out that, on top of that, getting a new contract addendum for electricity imports signed by the summer of 2025 is also high on the to-do list.

The official also mentioned that Azerbaijan has responded positively to Iran's proposal to hold a meeting in Baku to explore the integration of the electricity grids between Iran, Azerbaijan, and Russia. The focus is on accelerating technical work and evaluating opportunities to take serious steps in this direction.

To note, the project to create a North-South energy corridor between Iran, Azerbaijan, and Russia is underway. The goal is to synchronize the power grids of the three countries. The necessary design work for this project is being carried out by the Iranian company Monenko.
