Iran tallies iron ore and concentrate exports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 16. Iran's iron ore and concentrate exports during the three months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through June 20, 2024) amounted to 4.75 million tons with a total value of $372 million, the statistics of Iran's Steel Producers Association said, Trend reports.

According to the statistics, Iran's iron ore and concentrate exports decreased by 15.2 percent in value and increased by 5.5 percent in weight during the three months compared to the same period of the last Iranian year (from March 21 through June 21, 2023).

Iran produced 4.5 million tons of iron ore and concentrate worth $439 million during the last three months of the last Iranian year (from March 21 through June 21, 2023).

The statistics noted that Iran's iron ore exports during the three months amounted to 2.85 million tons worth $231 million. This is 14.2 percent less in value and 11 percent more in weight compared to the same period last year. In the same period last year, Iran's iron ore exports were 2.57 million tons worth $269 million.

Exports of iron ore concentrate totaled 1.9 million tons worth $141 million during the three months. This is 17 percent less in value and 0.7 percent less in weight compared to the same period last year. In the same period last year, Iran exported 1.92 million tons of iron ore concentrate worth $170 million.

To note, Iran produces an average of about 50 million tons of iron ore per year.

Iran can produce an average of 100 million tons of iron ore concentrate per year.

During the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023 through March 19, 2024), Iran's iron ore and concentrate exports totaled about 17.2 million tons with a total value of $1.7 billion. Last year, Iran's iron ore and concentrate exports increased by 125 percent in value and 160 percent in weight compared to the previous year (from March 21, 2023 through March 20, 2022).
