BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 6. The Turkish port of Aliaga handled a staggering 41.6 million tons of cargo from January to July 2024, the statement of Türkiye's Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure said, Trend reports.
According to the ministry, Aliaga port saw 1,948,086 tons of cargo transported under the Turkish flag, while ships under foreign flags carried 36,615,188 tons of cargo.
Additionally, the port handled 3,139,671 tons of transit cargo during this period.
In July 2024 alone, Turkish ports received over 32 million tons of cargo. Of this, 2,578,844 tons were transported on vessels under the Turkish flag.
"Cargo transport by vessels under foreign flags to Turkish ports totaled 29,625,039 tons," the ministry's statement reads.
Moreover, about 6.4 million tons of transit cargo were transported from the ports of Türkiye in July 2024.
The data of the ministry indicates that the ports of Türkiye received 236.2 million tons of cargo from January through July 2024.
The reception of cargo by Turkish-flagged vessels amounted to 17.4 million tons. And by vessels under the flags of other countries, cargo transportation to the ports of Türkiye amounted to 218.8 million tons.
