BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 12. The Turkish port of Aliaga handled a staggering 61.9 million tons of cargo from January through November 2024, the country's Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure said in a statement, Trend reports.
According to the ministry, a total of 3.2 million tons of cargo were handled by Turkish-flagged vessels through the port of Aliaga, while 58.6 million tons were handled by vessels under the flags of other countries.
The Turkish port of Aliaga handled 5.5 million tons of transit cargo from January through November 2024.
The ports of Türkiye handled 32.4 million tons of cargo in November 2024.
During the reporting period, cargo transportation by Turkish-flagged vessels through domestic ports amounted to 2.4 million tons.
"Cargo transport by vessels under foreign flags to Turkish ports totaled 30.3 million tons," the ministry's statement reads.
Moreover, about 5.9 million tons of transit cargo were transported from the ports of Türkiye in November 2024.
The data of the ministry indicates that the ports of Türkiye received 363.8 million tons of cargo from January through November 2024.
"The reception of cargo by Turkish-flagged vessels amounted to 27.4 million tons. And by vessels under the flags of other countries, cargo transportation to the ports of Türkiye amounted to 336.3 million tons," the statement said.
Additionally, Turkish ports handled 63.5 million tons of transit cargo from January through November 2023.
As per the obtained data, Turkish ports received 4,373 vessels in November 2024.
According to the data, Turkish ports received a total of 2,966 vessels under the flags of other countries and 1,407 Turkish-flagged vessels during the reporting period.
The total number of vessels arriving at Turkish ports reached 56,086 from January through November 2024.
"The number of vessels received by Turkish ports during this period was 36,550 under foreign flags and 19,536 under Turkish-flagged," the ministry's statement reads.
