Azerbaijan showcases growing synergy among Turkic Red Crescent societies

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 19. Cooperation between the Red Crescent Societies of the Turkic states has intensified in recent years, President of the Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society, MP Novruz Aslanov, said at a meeting of the heads of the Red Crescent Network of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) member countries held in Baku today, Trend reports.

According to him, the cooperation demonstrated by the Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society and the Turkish Red Crescent during the COVID-19 pandemic and the Second Karabakh War, as well as during the earthquake in Türkiye, has been one of the most striking examples of humanitarian harmony in the Turkic world.

He noted that the joint activities with the Turkish Red Crescent are not only in terms of the amount of aid, but also a strategic pillar of the humanitarian harmony of the Turkic world.

"This cooperation has shown that in the face of challenges such as natural disasters, wars, or pandemics, the Turkic peoples are connected not only by geographical proximity, but also by humanistic values ​​and spiritual ties," the official explained.

Speaking about intensive cooperation between the Red Crescent Societies of the Turkic states in recent years, he pointed out much work done in the direction of joint humanitarian exercises, mutual assistance mechanisms in emergencies, exchange of experience, and participation of volunteers in joint projects.

He also emphasized that this year marks the 105th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society.

"The joint activities of the National Societies of the Red Crescent Societies of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Hungary, and Cyprus create the basis for the formation of humanitarian diplomacy," he added.
