BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 2. Azerbaijan exported hazelnuts worth $108.4 million in the first 11 months of 2023, Trend reports via the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communications of Azerbaijan.
Hazelnut exports in monetary terms increased by $14.7 million, or 15.69 percent compared to the same period in 2022 ($93.7 million).
Azerbaijan exported products worth $14.1 million (an increase of 5.22 percent, or $0.7 million, compared to the same month in 2022) in November alone.
Azerbaijan exported hazelnuts worth $106.3 million in 2022, which was $2.5 million, or 2.3 percent less than in 2021.
The data from Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee reveals that the country exported 21,860 tons of hazelnuts in 2022.
The International Nut and Dried Fruit Council ranks Azerbaijan 4th among world hazelnut producers for the 2022/2023 season.
Azerbaijan has produced 24,000 tons of peeled hazelnuts during the reporting period. The country's share of world production is 4 percent.
The top three hazelnut producers include Türkiye (415,300 tons, 71 percent), Italy (38,700 tons, 7 percent) and the US (31,900 tons, 5 percent).
