ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 4. Axens, together with KazMunayGas, intends to explore the possibility of producing Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in Kazakhstan,Trend reports.

This agreement, which aims to strengthen the mutually beneficial partnership between Kazakhstan's KazMunayGas and France's Axens, will guide this arrangement.

The agreement was concluded ahead of the state visit of the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The document was signed by KMG CEO Askhat Hasenov and Axens Chairman Quentin Debuichert.

The agreement focuses on enhancing the mutually beneficial partnership.

The planned feasibility study for the "Sustainable Aviation Fuel Production in Kazakhstan" project in 2024-2025 will examine Axens' technologies related to renewable fuel production processes.

KMG's subsidiary, KazMunayGas – Aero, and Air Astana have already successfully conducted the preliminary feasibility study for the construction of the SAF production complex in Kazakhstan. The next step will be the development of the project feasibility study.

Additionally, Askhat Hasenov and Quentin Debuichert held a bilateral meeting to discuss technical cooperation in the oil refining sector.

Since 2005, French investments in Kazakhstan have exceeded $19.1 billion. Approximately 200 enterprises with French capital successfully operate in Kazakhstan. Located in France, Axens is an international company that offers technologies, equipment, and services, including technical assistance and training, to the oil and gas industry. Axens has been collaborating with KazMunayGas plants since 1997.
