ASTANA, Kazakhstan, January 21. Japanese companies "Sojitz Foods Corporation" and "Senko Farm" are interested in importing Kazakh horses, Trend reports.

For this purpose, a meeting was held at the Veterinary Control and Supervision Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan with representatives from the Japanese Embassy in Kazakhstan and Japanese companies "Sojitz Foods Corporation" and "Senko Farm."

The primary focus of the meeting revolved around the challenges associated with exporting Kazakh horses to Japan, as well as the necessary steps to finalize protocols for the live horse export, which encompass veterinary and sanitary oversight concerns.

The Kazakh side made it clear that they are all in when it comes to cooperation and are ready to lend a helping hand for exports. Both parties recognized the need for timely sharing of information and unwavering commitment to global standards.

The Ministry of Agriculture is rolling up its sleeves to back local producers and help them tap into fresh export opportunities.

Japan is one of Kazakhstan's key partners in East Asia and is currently in the top 10 largest investors. Trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Japan increased by 10.5 percent in 2023, reaching $2.1 billion.From January through May 2024, mutual trade amounted to $768 million. Since 1993, the total amount of Japanese investments in Kazakhstan's economy has climbed to around $8 billion.
