BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 1. Azerbaijan exported 20,200 tons of hazelnuts worth $128.9 million abroad last year.
Data obtained by Trend from the State Customs Committee, shows that this index hiked by $5.7 million (4.6 percent) in value compared to 2023, while the volume decreased by 3,200 tons (13.8 percent).
In 2024, hazelnut exports accounted for 0.49 percent of the country's total exports and 3.84 percent of non-oil sector exports.
To note, last year, Azerbaijan exported 686,200 tons of fruits and vegetables worth $707.8 million to foreign markets. Compared to 2023, the value of exported fruits and vegetables decreased by $18.1 million (2.5 percent), while the volume decreased by 35,800 tons (5 percent).
The share of fruits and vegetables in total exports during the reporting year was 2.67 percent, and in non-oil exports, it was 21.09 percent.
Meanwhile, Azerbaijan imported 375,000 tons of fruits and vegetables worth $281.8 million. The value of fruit and vegetable imports increased by $51.9 million (22.6 percent), and the volume increased by 22,200 tons (6.3 percent) compared to 2023.
Fruits and vegetables accounted for 1.34 percent of total imports in 2024.
