BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 8. Azerbaijani banks were busy as bees in 2024, racking up a whopping $4.5 billion in US dollar transactions, with $1.6 billion in purchases and $2.9 billion in sales under their belts.
Trend's calculations based on the data from the Central Bank of Azerbaijan indicate that this marks an increase of $1.4 billion, or 44 percent, compared to 2023.
Additionally, during this timeframe, bank acquisitions of US dollars saw a decline of $15.9 million, equating to a 1 percent drop, whereas sales experienced an increase of $1.4 billion, reflecting a substantial growth of 92.5 percent in comparison to 2023.
