BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 13. Azerbaijani citizens forked out a whopping 2.2 billion manat ($1.2 billion) on tourism-related expenses while hitting the road abroad in 2024.
The data obtained by Trend from the State Statistical Committee shows that this figure shows a leap of 700 million manat ($411.7 million), or 47 percent, compared to 2023, when the tourism-related spending of Azerbaijani citizens on foreign trips hit 1.5 billion manat ($882.3 million).
Moreover, 2.15 million Azerbaijani citizens traveled to foreign countries during this period. Of these, 1.365 million were for tourism purposes. Among the travelers, 806,000 were men, and 558,000 were women. A whopping 1,337 million folks took to the skies, while a mere 28,000 opted to sail the seas.
